BSI Representation is an important aspect of membership.
ABCM has an excellent record of placing delegates on British Standards Institution (BSI) and other committees. Currently ABCM sends representatives over 50 committees. BSI is of particular importance as they are the UK’s spokes-body in Europe, so a presence onthese committees not only gives the opportunity to influence the word, but to be well briefed on standard and lefislation coming out of Europe. See external committee list.
Construction Products Directive of the European Union is another area to carefully monitor. Periodically briefing meetings are held.
ABCM is a body that is consulted and able to comment on draft directives in the building and construction field. We receive papers from the Standing Committee on Construction (SCC) as they become available. Members are informed and copies are available upon request.
Building regulations and approved documents is another area where ABCM assists it’s members. There is opportunity to see the consultation papers, discuss and comment. Information meetings are organized as appropriate to discuss and prepare comment. When such changes come into force, briefing sessions and if required tutorials are arranged. These events prove to be of great value to those involved in product development, for legislation can lead to market opportunity for the component manufacturer.
Roofing industry alliance (RIA)
ABCM is a member, and has input through it’s delegates.
